There are many ways to start a week off right, and one of them is with this trailer. Building on July’s emotional teaser, the latest look at director Ryan Coogler’s next movie is full of glimpses of a new conflict—this one between the people of Wakanda, who are still mourning the loss of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), and the people of Atlantis and their leader, half-Atlantean Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner (Tenoch Huerta).
Or, as M’baku (Winston Duke) names him, “K’uk’ulkan, the feather serpent god.” We get more of a look at Namor’s underwater home, more than one glimpse of his feet-wings—and a good look at the genius Ironheart/Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), who takes off in her Iron Man-inspired armor.
But this trailer—and this movie, one hopes—belongs largely to the women of Wakanda. To Angela Bassett as the angry and grieving Queen Ramonda; to Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia; Letitia Wright as Shuri; Danai Gurira as Okoye—and to whoever it is in that sleek new Black Panther suit.
Is Namor coming for the surface? Will there be eternal war? And who’s in the suit?!??! Our many questions will be answered when Wakanda Forever lands in theaters on November 11th.
